Fr. George T. Montague, SM, is a Marianist priest known internationally for his numerous books on Scripture and spirituality, including the best-selling Holy Spirit Make Your Home in Me (The Word Among Us Press, 2008). He is a former president of the Catholic Biblical Association of America and has served as editor of the Catholic Biblical Quarterly. A popular speaker, he has been involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal since 1970, and is professor of biblical theology at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.

When I first heard about this book, I knew there was something in it for my soul to ponder. I was not disappointed. It left me reflecting and meditating the simple yet so profound relationship of Mary and the Holy Spirit. I saw it as not only a beautiful love song duet between Mary and the Holy Spirit, but also as a perfect dance between the lover and the beloved. Wherever the Spirit led Mary, she went. He only needed to breath ever so subtly on her and she followed. No words needed to be spoken, her heart was perfectly attuned to Him.May she teach us also the path of love and give us her heart ever ready to say FIAT! Be it done!

Father George has beautiful insights, because he is so open to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. My relationship with Mary grew through the reading of this book.
Quite deep theology of Mary and her relationship to the Holy Spirit. Best for students of Christian theology but interesting concepts.
The author has written in a manner that is easy to comprehend and yet gave me much to ponder. I loved the prayers and reflection questions at the end of each chapter. Great book for gaining a better understanding of Mary and growing in desire for a closer relationship with her.
This is a wonderful book for meditation as well as small group study and discussion.
Mary's Life in the Spirit is easy to use. One reads 3-4 pages and then there are 3-4 questions that help you to reflect deeper into the reading and deeper into your own spirituality. Biblical passages are cited for reference and further reading. Most importantly this book has helped me to get closer to Mary and to understand even more her importance and significance in God's divine plan for us and the church. Catholics and Protestants could benefit from reading and reflecting. The author uses many metaphors and parallels to explain. There is a beautiful prayer/reading quote from a pregnant mother. Her reading will make all pregnant women realize the important part you have in God's creation of new life. I give this a 5 star rec. Carol Skidmore
Father Montague's words penatrate mind and soul, like nothing else I've ever read. The song of the Holy Duet will comfort and inspire me.
There is so much in this book that I have never considered before. I mean, I've studied Mary before. I've studied the Holy Spirit. And, I've studied the Bible. And I know that the Holy Spirit was instrumental in Mary's role as the mother of Jesus. But I never put them both together in the way that George T Montague does in this book! A Holy Duet. Montague portrays their life together in a fascinating way that makes the reader yearn for the same type of relationship with the Holy Spirit that Mary had. Definitely one of my favorites!
